Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Lost by 7 runs

Match report On the wrong end of the result but a good starter for the lads, some of whom were playing their first hard ball cricket. Skipper Moni won the toss and decided to bat and we sent Ollie and Suni in to face their big left armer. Boundary's were scored by Suni, Aiden, Moni and Robbie while Ollie, Suni, Dan, Moni and Robbie preserved their wickets. Oscar played the best over of the day, the final one. Having been cleaned up by the best bowler on show a few times the over before he played a great defensive over and assured us of what might have been a defendable total.
We were unlucky not to pick up a wicket first ball but a tricky chance off Will was grassed. Throughout our innings our ground fielding was good although we did put down a few crucial catches - and Catches DO Win Matches, had we have held them we would have won. Great ground work from from Aiden and Peter got us two run outs. Tom picked up an early wicket and kept things tight only going for 4 in his two overs while the pick of the bowlers were the Ghosh brothers, Suni bowling 3 overs for 3 runs and big brother Moni taking 3 for 8 in his three. In the end it came down to the last few overs of each innings - in ours we lost 4 wickets and in theirs we took 3 for 4. It goes to show how important it is to keep concentrating. Finally well done to P&S debutant Robbie who really looked the part hitting strongly and bowling well.
