Match report We batted first and were soon under pressure with Havant's bowlers finding their line and length and we lost a number of wickets early on. We missed opportunities to score runs at times by not backing up and calling loudly, appearing cautious with our batting and a number of poor balls went unpunished.

The final two pairs scored well with Robbie and Will playing some good shots and running well between the wickets, lifting our score quickly without losing any wickets. Moni and Tom followed them as the final pair and scored a number of boundaries without losing any wickets and boosted our total to 260.

What was pleasing to see was all the boys bowled some good deliveries and could all have taken a wicket. However, Havant batted well and Henry and Will took the only wickets by clean bowling the batsmen.

The matches this season are all about learning and developing techniques and I would encourage the boys to remember the following fielding tips for the next match:

Use the long barrier or crow hop to prevent the ball from running between your legs (this happened a lot tonight).

Try to make it easy for your team mates to catch the ball by not throwing it unnecessarily hard when the batsman is already in and you are not going to run him out. (we gave away lots of unnecessary overthrows).

Encourage your team mates when they are bowling - we were very, very quiet tonight - and I know you can be a lot louder!!!
