Match report Nightmare Weather on a Nightmare Pitch! But a great result!
Batting first on a minefield of a pitch which not even Big Al with all his experience could read we were soon in trouble at 0 for 2. But as usual Big Al stuck it out with a superb 78 well supported by James Cleary with 27 and Extras with 45 not out. Good to see Kai and Sam add vital runs at the death with 18 n.o. and 9 n.o. respectively to give us a defendable total of 198.
Excellent opening bowling from Ant and Rich who beat the bat time after time with no reward saw us into a dominant position early on. Things started to get away from us after a nasty injury to Jamie but were brought back in our favour with 2 vital wickets from Andy Chowdhury from a cameo 3 overs and Rich Collier with 2 excellent wickets particularly their top scorer who looked to be leading them to victory. Big respect to those who finished the match, as we were down to 9 fielders for the last seven overs, and saw us home to a much needed victory.
