Review of U11 Fruit Shoot 20/20 Challenge

30 Jun 2011

On Monday 27th June, 12 lads from the U11 squad were lucky enough to be able to perform some 20/20 drills on the outfield of the Rose Rowl inbetween the England Ladies international 20/20 Final (where they beat Australia) and Hampshire Royals 20/20 match against neighbours Sussex Sharks.

The boys, Amir, Dan, Robbie, Suni, Moni, Ollie, Will, Peter, Oscar, Fin, Henry and Kyle where asked to show off their skills in drills such as Fielding for Run Outs, Death Bowling (yorkers), Six Hitting, High Catching and Diving Catching.

Some of the drills were really tough but I can safely say every boy performed to the very best of their ability and of the 6 sides there that evening we came a very creditable 3rd. The sight of the lads taking one handed diving catches, clinging onto balls smashed into the stratosphere and pulling balls into the stands was really exciting.

Then to cap the evening off we were able to watch Michael Lumb, Shahid Afridi, Imran Tahir, Dominic Cork et al show all the skills we had practiced while helping the Royals beat the Sharks.

Over the next couple of days have a look at our Photo Galleries as I'll soon be posting a few pictures from the evening and will do the same with the professional ones once I get them.
