U16 Indoor Season Report

07 Mar 2016

Having lost only 3 from 9 we had a successful season on balance but after last year's table topping it seemed a little lack lustre.

We were well beaten by ultimate champs Petersfield but were much closer in the other two games we missed out on. Perhaps the tale of our season stems from our difficulty in getting a regular side out. We used 11 different players this year with our two u13s (Freddie & Tristan) playing as many games as Harry, Harlan and Ollie.

With the bat we didn't hit the heights of previous years missing any number of batting points. Ollie(156) Harry (136) and Harlan (125) topped the aggregate charts and had we have managed to play all three together more than just twice the outcome might have been different.

Nevertheless our less experienced boys soon cottoned on and we saw retirements from Freddie  and the Dan's T & C.

With the ball the early running was made by new face Nick who rushed to 5 wickets but he was finally overtaken by Freddie who took the most with 6. Dan T was perhaps our most consistant while, when fit, Harlan was always a threat. Dan C showed his class in flashes and even Ollie escaped from behind the stumps to snaffle a few scalps. In his place with the gloves Tristan was a fine replacement and will be much stronger for the experience. In his only 2 games Muhammad bowled and batted with promise to hint there is more you come from him.

So, in the end while not where we hoped to be there were plenty of positives that mean we can look forward to next season with optimism.
