Match report Unfortunately a player down because of a no-show we had a tough assignment with 3 first time players in the side. Our opposition kindly provided a player for the first 3 or 4 overs but we spent the majority of our fielding session with only 3 out fielders. However, we did a good job. While we didn't pick up wickets (the one we got was thanks to Ishaan's good work to flick the ball to our 'keeper, Tom, to complete the job). Sam was our most economical bowler on show but Jim, Gully and Ishaan each bowled some great stuff too.
In the chase Gully from the go showed the way, neatly stroking it into the covers and calling the 3. Ishaan kept him company well but in the 5th over, he clipped the ball into the wall, called the run but watched it bounce straight back to the bowler to leave him run out. Tom confidently, but unfortunately, rather did the same. After Gully had retired Sam and Jim ran well with both getting 4s before Sam slashed at a cut and nicked behind. Us being a man down actually helped as that brought Gully "Stokesy" Bailey back in. Jim was the third of our band to be run out but he played a great hand thereafter supporting Gully's well judged calls. From the end of the 8th over Gully played a lone hand - with 36 needed. One crashed 4 and more 3's edged us closer and he started the last over needing 10. In the end we got there after 2 legitimate balls . An excellent hand played by our skipper who showed how to play this style of game. He got just one 4 but 11 3's to finish unbeaten. Well played all but particularly Gully!
