Match report After losing at Division 2 Ventnor in the T20 cup, P & S were facing Division 1 Sarisbury at their headquarters on a gloomy afternoon. Ben chose to bat and Matt skied a catch in the second over. Tom followed in the sixth over at the end of which the score was 21 for two. Dean stayed with Jack while 32 were added in five overs. Ollie and Jack put on 28 in four overs before Jack was caught from a skier at 80 for 4. The run rate had passed five an over at this point. Jack had sustained the innings again. No more boundaries were hit after this. Ollie and Jake added 24 in four overs. 113 did not look a commanding score, but boundaries had been hard to come by and this was to continue through the Sarisbury innings.
If the visitors’ start had been difficult, the home team’s was disastrous. Jake removed the top three in the order in a terrific spell. When it had finished, there was a recovery when Sanders and Jed Bradley added 37. This partnership was broken by Matt who produced an equally incisive spell as Jake. His bounce and movement reduced Sarisbury to 61 for 6 with only six overs left. Sanders and Martin added 38 in five overs, but Sanders picked out Dean on the boundary and he was as reliable as ever. Jono’s final over was pacy and caused a panicked run out.
It started raining as the match finished.
