Match report On the face of it, this result looks comprehensive, and in the end it was. However, there was another mid-innings collapse in which five wickets were lost while 47 runs were added to the total in 10 overs.
Prior to Jake’s dismissal the score had reached 88 in 22 overs, but when Matt was out, 135 for 6 was not reassuring. The depth of the team’s batting was being tested and was not found wanting. Dean and Max put on 41 for the seventh wicket and then Ben joined Dean in a partnership of 47 for the eighth wicket. These coalitions were exactly what was needed and Dean was able to unfurl some powerful strokes, leading to his best Southern League score and a decent total. This was achieved despite Dean’s lack of regular opportunities to bat.
The Trojans innings hit the rocks early with Jono taking two wickets in his first over. They were soon 13 for 3 when Boyd was bowled not playing a shot. There followed a partnership of 37 in eight overs between Bhome and Mahmood, but the last seven wickets fell for 68, all to the spinners in 22 overs. The eleventh consecutive win was achieved and the maximum 22 points secured.
