Match report This promised to be a tight contest and so it was for the bulk of the afternoon. Ben won the toss and chose to bat first. Jack and Matt began carefully but at the half way stage of the innings, had compiled 77 without loss. It looked a great platform, but the two off spinners, Watkins and Gordon, were three overs into their quota. They continued in tandem for the next 17 overs and the score when they finished their spells was 107 for four with only seven overs left. Tom and Dean were relieved to see the return of the quicker bowlers and added 35 in six overs before being separated. 149 seemed better than it might have been but also less than it might have been, but great credit to Watkins and Gordon.
Jake and Jono quickly got stuck into the early batting. After eight overs, Bashley were 37 for four, needing a decent partnership. Jacques looked dangerous paired with Gordon, but by the sixteenth over they were both gone. 62 for six looked perilous. That was as good as it got for the home side as Wilson, supported sensibly by Tripcony and then Parsons, saw Bashley home with four overs to spare. It was an outstanding innings.
