Match report Despite miserable conditions down on the seafront the spirits of the 11A's could not be dampened as they finally started their season against the local rivals. Those in the know at the club felt that this would be a strong side this year and far too strong they were for Portsmouth. Talitha and Sam opened up in what looked like favorable conditions for bowling but unfortunately for Portsmouth the P&S openers put pay to any thoughts that ball would dominate bat. Both found the boundary regularly and retired on healthy scores. Felix and Henry O repeated the trick and again both retired with a reverse sweep from Felix being the highlight of a fluent knock. Henry F was our only casualty, the skipper run out when looking set for a big score. Jacob and Elliot finished the innings off and both found the boundary and with the assistance of some wayward bowling from the home side we managed a very good 186 runs for just 1 wicket.
Despite some good batting from Heath, Reuben and Edward Portsmouth were always behind the run rate, especially after really good accurate spells from Gia, Ryan and Charlie early on in the innings. The wickets came later from Sam (1), Talitha (2) and a run out via the Stanley crew and Portsmouth finished their innings on 128-4 meaning P&S had won by 58 runs.

All in all a really good effort from everybody who played and we look forward to the next game hopefully in the sunshine.
