Match report An eventful day started with the bad news that Jack and Tom were having x-rays at the same time for ankle injuries, Jack rolled his playing basketball and Tom playing football, the moral of this story is stick to cricket! So we we were now two short so big thanks to Elliot and Talitha for stepping up to play after they had both finished their school games. Petersfield won the toss and elected to bat, they got off to a steady start with Elliot H and Ryan keeping the run rate down with some accurate bowling. Ryan in particular was bowling full and straight and it was no surprise when he picked up the first wicket. Enter spin twins Harrison and James who slowed the rate even further with the help of some energetic and enthusiastic leg side fielding from Ryan and Talitha and some smart takes from Fin behind the stumps.. Harrison was unlucky not to pick up a wicket as he was regularly beating the bat with his off spin and occasional arm ball. Harrison M and Elliot E kept the pressure on and Elliot was rewarded with a wicket following a good catch from Rob. As the Petersfield innings entered the final stages they tried to up the run rate but Rob and Talitha continued our good bowling evening with some accurate bowling, Talitha took a good caught and bowled but alas it was a no ball. Ryan returned to take another wicket and Petersfield ended on 109 which seemed to be a bit below par. James and El got us off to a good start and it was surprise when James missed a straight one. Harrison E joined El and steadily mixed sharp running with the odd boundary to keep us above the rate. Ryan was next in and batted sensibly and we were all but home when Harrison holed out leaving Fin to come in and hit the winning boundary with an over to spare. So the day ended much better than it had started and despite missing two of our regulars we were comfortable winners with skipper Harrison stepping up to produce a good all round performance.
