Match report The U13a Team suffered their first defeat of the season in the final of the Hampshire Cup. Unfortunately P&S performed poorly with the bat having been put in first by Yateley. Yateley captain Jack Wood (3-0-11-4) tore through our top order. Tom Benfield was top scorer with 12 runs sharing an 11 run partnership with Sam Collings-Wells (6). Next highest scorer was Ben Jackson (4) who had to play following Matt Walker having to pull out right at the last minute with a thigh injury.
With very little to defend P&S opened their bowling with the spinners, but although the run rate was kept low the vital wickets of the opening batsmen didn’t fall and they chased down the total in the 8th over. The team did well to keep their heads up and fielded well, but were completely out classed by a very talented team that included several county players. Despite the result it was a good humoured game played in the best spirit. Yateley will undoubtedly go far in the national completion and we wish them well.
