Match report With one of the most inexperienced sides we have put out for a long while we gave a good account of ourselves and the energy we showed was so far ahead of the flat performance last time round.
Things didn't start too well as Tom, one of our "bankers" was cleaned up by a good one, first ball of the innings. However, skipper Harrison and Harrison the Younger played a great running game. Harrison M even unfurled a 4 straight back down the ground but perished when nailing a pull shot into the very surprised square leg's hands! Debutant no.1 Jacob was growing in confidence and looked very comfortable so it was a surprise when he was bowled. The skipper bossed proceedings in the middle well until a thin edge saw him sent packing. With the overs ticking by our other two newbies, Henry and Ged did everything right and saw us to the close.
We knew our score perhaps wasn't quite enough and so it proved. Despite all our bowlers keeping things tidy, the more experienced opposition simply ran well and got home pretty comfortably. Nevertheless, I was really impressed with the effort we put in in the field. We would have got at least a run out had the Cricketing Gods smiled more kindly on Harrison M. He smashed a rocket arm into the base of the stumps but the bails just would not budge.
Well done to Jacob and Henry who look like they could get the hang of the indoor game very quickly. A special mention to Ged who not only played his first indoor game but also kept wicket for the first time - no easy task and one he did well. A good effort from all.
