Match report With a few boys unavailable and a last minute change it was always going to be a tough night for the boys. Things started well though, with Portsmouth's county player bowled out by Jack Nay for just 4 runs however Portsmouth picked up the run rate quickly scoring almost 10 an over for a while. Our bowlers seemed to give away more runs than usual in their first over each but tightened up in their 2nd and 3rd overs to keep the score down as much as possible, Portsmouth finished on 157 so it was a big total to chase.

Jack and Tom opened the batting and settled quickly, Tom was outstanding this evening, retiring on 32 including 7 impressive 4s, he looked very comfortable throughout.

Harrison came in next and very quickly hit a ball high in the air, it looked like a sure catch but the fielder dropped it. Harrison ran a confident single but neither him or Jack called to each other well enough and in the confusion/ball watching unfortunately Jack was run out for 18.

Ryan and Harrison ran well and hit some lovely shots and looked as if they were going to keep the run rate going for a while but unfortunately they were out for 9 and 8 runs. Elliott batted alongside Ryan for a little while, he started well and looked very comfortable, the rain started and the balls weren't running along the pitch particularly nicely by this point so what would have been 2s and 4s weren't quite making it and Elliott was bowled out for 6.

Roman and Finley came in at 6 and 7, Finley looked confident from the 1st ball and hit 17 easily, his calling/running was excellent. Unfortunately they were all out for 130 but they can definitely take a lot of positives from this evening, with a bit more luck (a couple of dropped catches, a direct hit just not quite in time) it would have been a lot closer.
