Match report Unbeaten at Christmas.
Winning the toss we went with the trusted formula of batting first and letting scoreboard pressure see us through. Against a bowling attack that included only county & district bowlers, Harry, Ollie and Harlan (who found the back wall 4 times) all did well to get back in the hutch. However, at 6/7 over stage we were below our minimum target of 10 runs per over. A neat catch saw Daniel taken, a limping Will was unlucky to be run out, while Henry got a top ball first up. The returning Ollie was caught off the roof going for the big one but Harry upped the anti to get us back on track before he too was well caught. That left Harlan to continue the good work and so he did. With Harry backing up brilliantly, Harlan calmly took 3 per ball off the 1st 5 balls of the last over before a very tight decision went against him to see us all out off the last ball. Nevertheless a top innings and a maiden 50 for him. The first of many we hope.
Thanks to a few tough chances going missing and aggressive hitting, they stayed in the hunt despite their skipper being blamelessly run out due to Harry's good work. When an excellent couple of overs from Dan snared their other opener and Henry tempted their "shot a ball" man to test Harry's hands we were well set. Some measured resistance and good running from numbers 4 & 5 got them closer but Harry rounded off an excellent evening for him with a brace of wickets in the last over before Dan added the final run out to get us maximum points.
