Match report A superb effort from our ten players. Bowling first our young bowling attack of 3 under 13's; 2 under 15's and 1 under 17 bowled the opposition out for 169 to gain maximum bowling points - a great achievement against an experienced opposition team. Harrison bowled tight and with good pace for his two wickets; Dimash bowled with good variety to pick up 3 wickets; Will, Harry and Tariq all bowled good balls and were unlucky not to take wickets. It was impressive the way the boys responded if they were hit for a boundary - it didn't faze them at all and they received lots of praise from the opposition for their attitude and quality. Bowling performance of the day went to Harlan picking up his first 5 wicket haul in mens cricket, bowling all 5 of his victims - bowl straight and you take wickets - all 5 of them!! A superb performance Harlan well done.
Our concentration for 42 overs paid real dividends as the opposition went from 154 for 4 to 169 all out. The youngsters showing a level of maturity well above their years to deliver this fielding and bowling performance. Thank you to Mark Smith for keeping wicket well on a pitch where the ball was keeping low and not carrying - not an easy task - thanks Mark.
Rob and Harrison got our batting off to a good start punishing bad balls off their openers who only bowled 2 overs each. The change of bowlers at both ends caused us problems as they bowled good line and length and made scoring difficult. They accounted for Rob and Harrison with Ed and Dimash perishing soon after and scoring was tricky. Harlan batted with maturity and helped add 30 runs with Mark, as did Tariq in his 30 run partnership too and the opposition knew they were in a game as we were on track for most the innings at 5 an over to win. Will and Harry batted maturely in their partnership towards the end of the innings both playing positive and fluent shots. A good team effort guys - well done.
