Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Won By 66 runs

Match report A convincing result. Being put in skipper Harry G played a good hand opening up with Daniel C as they started by running aggressively and HG particularly finding the leg side boundary well. The pair weren't separated until the 7th over when Harry missed one trying to run the ball to third man. JB joined Dan and they carefully built. Although playing on an artificial track timing the ball was tricky but John managed to force a couple of boundaries. With 4 overs to go JB retired to bring Harry L in. His impetus helped add 20 runs. Before he departed c&b pushing things for the team Dan retired with a clout through mid-wicket having played the anchor role well. Ollie and Harlan saw us home with a couple of scampered runs. In the field, for the second time this year we got a wicket 1st ball with Harlan's in swinger working it's magic. Daniel T 's first over started unfortunately but he came back extremely well with a couple of bowled scalps. Will and Harry L kept a real lid on things, as did Henry an Kyle. Henry kept the wickets falling with a well directed yorker. Just as the batters started to get comfortable up stepped Harry G to effect a run out. To try and winkle out he last few we turned to the flighted spin of The skipper and Dan C. While Harry went close on a number of occasions Dan was the second of our bowlers to be on a hat trick. A fine (if unrealistic!) appeal for the hat trick LBW kept the crowd on their feet. The match ended in good natured laughter as their no. 10 kept up a nervous commentary of his innings.
A good win but for our cup semi final next week we'll have to focus on keeping more urgency in our batting and ensuring we keep up our level of fielding.
