Match report Under a glorious summer Southsea evening sky, Captain for the match Harrison Whitworth elected to bat first sending in Tom Lavery and Ben Caldera to open. Unfortunately, both batsmen lost their wickets early, which set the tone for the remainder of the batting line up who all lost their wickets offering little resistance. On the small Portsmouth ground, it was clear that a score of less than a 100 was insufficient for the bowlers to bowl defend, and despite some inspirational fielding by Charlie Corbett on the boundary at Fine Leg, the Portsmouth batsmen soon overtook the target to win the match with 6 wicket in hand.
A poor result certainly, but an even more disappointing performance by a makeshift team, lacking commitment and confidence. To arrest this decline, the team need to work together and for each other. Practice makes perfect.
