Match report We took a 8 15 year olds and 3 older heads to Petersfield to face a more senior team and in the end experience told. In a game where boundaries make a difference there was a stark difference between the sides. We found the ropes 6 times and cleared them once. A third of our 4s came in the 1st over (1 of which was a first ball overthrow) but unfortunately so did a quarter of our wickets! This meant our middle order of Richards, Whitworth and Cox had to play more measured hands than might have been the case. Jacko played our innings of the day finishing things with a flourish, cracking a slog sweep for our only 6. A total of 110 gave something but seemed light at half way.
So it proved. Their batters cracked 10 fours and 2 sixes with their skipper retiring for a pretty much chanceless 53. Our wicket came from that man Jacko who might have got another the ball after too. Pick off the bowlers was perhaps Nick who's first 2 overs only conceeded 5 runs. During his later overs he caught a little of the "wideitous" that was going around both teams so his figures aren't quite as impressive as had been promised. The end came swiftly with us being beaten with virtually 5 overs to spare. We certainly weren't disgraced but we will need stronger performances in our next outings.
