Match report More disappointment. Winning the toss, although The Chef nipped out one opener relatively early and GP was causing real problems from the other end, they started well being 92 for 2 in the 21st over. Thanks to the introduction of Kes, who again got amongst the wickets and good glovework down leg side from Matt Smith, we removed their batting mainstay and we pushed on through. Jono swinging it at pace picked up an economical 4 scalps and the final act was played out by JD who tempted a wild swing first ball for a bowled and a suicidal run. Looking at a chase of 137 we thought we were home and hosed.
Wrong! Racing out of the blocks we were 17 without loss after 4 but that was the last time we were in the hunt until our opening bowlers threatened to edge us over the line. When Graham was last out to yet another LBW (this time from the other end) we had fallen 20 short. In short a really good afternoon in the field was undone by a poor effort with the bat. We'll need a herculean effort to get promoted now and I hope this will let us play with more freedom.
PS Last week I was utterly miserable all week. This time round I'm over it already thanks to Chis and boys efforts vs Totton! Well done lads.
