Match report Gutted. Winning the toss we batted first on a shocker and were rolled for 128. Dan top scored and hit a cracking straight six, Jake looked the part until he was blamelessly run out and Ryan, Fletch, Rips and PG all looked pretty good until undone by the popping pitch. Wardy batted like yesteyear and had yours truely and GP been able to stay with him the extra 10 or so we might have got could well have been enough.
Even with only 128 on the board we felt we had a chance but we had to take all our chances. Sadly we didn't. Lex start thing well picking up a wicket and going at 1 an over before his back came back to haunt. At the other end GP did his stuff and picked up 4 with a another couple of drops to rue. A great spell. Jake, Chris, Ryan and Wardy all bowled well but despite a couple of really top draw catches - from the diving Chris at Short Leg and Matt flying behind the stumps - we dropped another one and let a few ground runs by. With their No.11 not going to bat Wardy picked up their 8th wicket caught at long on with 11 still needed. Jake's last over was a cracker and was unlucky not to end it as the batsman propped a couple just short and found air with a couple of wild swings but 2 balls into the 40 over they scrambled over the line.
Despite this poor pitch we should have won this one. Here's to next week.
