Choosing to bat first Freddie found the back wall twice in the opening over before being adjudged short trying to make a single. The promoted Cam couldn't quite get a rhythm and likewise Davo and debutant Yaseer but finally Tristan found a partner willing to hang around in young Tom. With Tristan, (living up to his Top of the Batting Charts billing) the main aggressor, ably supported by Tom we worked our way up to a defendable total. When Tristan was last man out in the final over he had managed to half his average to only 145!
In reply they started confidently but the introduction of Alex's off-spin changed the game. A stinging caught and bowled and a cracking legside take from Tristan did for both openers. While the number three didn't look in too much trouble Alex's miserly spell slowed everything down for them . With the help of another Davo catch Tom earned himself a wicket and Yaseer began his indoor bowling career with an over full of good lines (if not lengths). As Freddie stared the final over they required 7 to win with 3 wickets in hand. A very circumspect dot and a single with no attempt to run helped us. A frantic leg bye attempt gave Cam at point the chance to rifle down the stumps at the bowlers end and get us the decision. Another dot following a dropped chance left 5 off 2. A three got their last man on strike - one ball, two to win. Despite the batters mighty heave, Freddie was too straight and too quick ensuring we ran out winners by the smallest of margins. Well done folks.
