Match report On a hot evening, following a long hot week it required a mid innings "pep talk" to get any energy into our fielding display. With a few exceptions, who had been giving their all before, it paid dividends as we started taking wickets. Stan led the way with two wickets in a team hatrick with Alex taking the next. Catches from Tom and Stan saw us get 5 wickets in our last few overs.
With their left arm opener bowling tightly Freddie took the attack to his opening partner but fell clipping a ball to square leg. Alex expanded his innings with a couple of big hits down the ground. By the time he had retired we had lost Tristan who was bowled moving too far across his stumps. Stan kept Alex company until the opener retired. Then he opened his shoulders. Smiting 4 4s and 3 6s he was particularly harsh on their leggie (who accounted for both Joel and Umar with caught and bowleds). Tom was done by a ball that hit a crack and nipped back appreciably so, with a couple of overs to go, Lennie was joined by Teddy. After initially toughing it out against their quick Lennie fell in the last over well stumped. That left Teddy to ensure we wouldn't be bowled out, a job he did well in his last man stand.
We deserved the result we got tonight, who knows what might have happened had we not given them a 12 over head start!
