Match report In the middle of a heatwave, Keiron was popular with the team for winning the toss and batting first, but another very uneven performance ensued. Matt went in with Jack to try to solve the opening problem and was a resounding success reaching his first League hundred of the season from 95 balls. He was seventh out at 198, having added 66 with Ben. No other pairing exceeded 40, but 233 was a decent recovery from 99 for 5. Dan, at number eleven was third highest scorer. Ben , showing his best form of the season, was at the crease while 79 were added.
Dan made the breakthrough in the tenth over and when Jono bowled the veteran Parratt at 49, things looked promising. However, Fawley didn’t panic and all their remaining batsmen made a useful contribution. When a ball from Ben went over the head of Ollie standing up to the wicket, it looked like the spinners would be in for some fun. This didn’t happen and too many dropped catches didn’t help. Home skipper, Earl blasted an unbeaten 61 from 37 balls to clinch Fawley’s first win of the year with five balls to spare. Jono took the bowling honours for the visitors.
We actually moved up one place in the table as Gosport failed to get a single point from their match against Hambledon.
