Match report Bashley won the toss and batted. They were soon in trouble at 16 for 2 in the seventh over, but the arrival of Morris gave their innings a solidity that enabled them to recover. Morris and Lewis added 66 in 10 overs. The introduction of Ben’s off spin broke the partnership. Underwood soon followed Lewis back to the pavilion. There followed another partnership of 66, this time in 18 overs before Matt bowled O’Sullivan and then Morris. Eede and Ridley put on 35 but Jono’s last oversaw Ridley yorked and Taylor beaten for pace. The home team’s ground fielding had been erratic and we hoped this wouldn’t affect the batting.
P & S made the worst of starts, losing Jack to a stunning one-handed catch in the covers and Shaun leg before, with no runs on the board, from the opening nine deliveries. Matt stroked three boundaries before miscuing to mid on. Ollie and Tom added 45 in 13 overs. Tom was the first of four wickets to fall for 23 in six overs, leaving Rob and Jono facing defeat. They immediately went on the attack and their partnership of 38 ended with a boundary catch. Chris then kept Rob company while 50 were added as Rob seriously reduced Bashley’s stock of cricket balls. The assault continued after Keiron replaced Chris and a fourth batting point was secured, but Rob eventually miscued to be caught and bowled, ending a scintillating knock.
