Match report
A tough night. Against a very good side we were wrong footed by not having a full side for the first 9 overs and because of this were rather lack lustre in the field. They graciously had two of their players field for us but even this couldn't get us quite giving it the full beans. They batted very well but 3 drops and 3 regulation run outs went begging. Even so at 164 the score was big but I didn't think unsurpassable for out batting.
Sadly losing Umar ball one and Jack by the end of the first over we were really behind the 8-ball. Harrison honestly walked having feathered a leg-side glance to the very tidy gloveman. Neither umpire noticed the nick so well done H. Ryan smoked a lovely straight 4 but offered a catch soon after leaving Tom and Finlay to salvage what they could. Finlay played the innings of the evening looking for 3s and would have retired if the opportunity been there. Ultimately he was bowled leaving the solid Tom to see how far we could get. He resolutely kept middling the ball to mid-off but perished off the last ball to a full straight one.
Some thoughts for next time - firstly: you are much better than you looked tonight. Believe it and you will show it! When you are fielding every ball is an event, want it, chase it and don't let the opposition get anything from you.
Secondly, we scored 2 4's and a 4 leg byes and they bowled 33 wides. That's 45 runs in 14 balls. That means we scored the other 32 runs in 58 more balls. If we had hit the side wall from the dots we would have got maximum batting points and if we had taken 3's we would definitely have been in the hunt. If we can learn how to do that we will be up there with the best.
