Match report Being put in, new boy Alex started with a bang taking 8 off the first 2 balls and barely stopping for breath until he holed out for 35 seven overs in. Unfortunately the Tristan run out curse struck again - Mr Nay going this time. With 2 down Tristan C and Mo consolidated and ultimately expanded their games to get us to a score of 128.
Defending it was always going to be tough as we were a man short in the field. Each of the bowlers had decent moments but firstly their classy opener and then later order hitters took it away from us. Josh was rewarded for a tight couple of overs with a wicket thanks to a good catch from Mo and Tristan N's quick thinking and accurate arm got us a run out. Despite these moments they romped home in a flurry of boundaries.
While we were well beaten, with a little more savvy about how we manage our games we could have changed things. When batting simply taking singles early in an innings will pay dividends. The field will become ragged, your eyes will get in and the big shots will come naturally. In the field we can be more defensive (in a positive way). We rightly started with sweepers but we could have dropped further men out when they were swinging from the hip.
So, more learning points - we'll get there!
