Scorecard

Fareham v Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Under 11 on Fri 07 Jul 2017 at 6pm
Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Lost by 20 runs

Match report Not such a successful night for the Bs unfortunately, a few changes from Wednesday night but the players worked hard and listened to the comments from the last match.

We fielded first, every player did their job brilliantly in the field. There was some impressive backing up by Talitha, Felix and Henry throughout the innings and Tom Rait did well in his first match as wicket keeper.

Best bowling performance tonight was Sid who took 2 wickets in his 2nd over, only giving away 3 runs. It was nail biting stuff after the 2nd wicket in a row waiting for his possible hat-trick, he bowled an amazing ball which only just missed the stumps. 2 wickets for Robert plus wickets for Harrison on his 1st U11s match, Talitha and Elliott. Ryan had a great 2 overs, only letting 1 run go off his 2nd. We bowled a relatively high number of extras and their batsman only scored 14 runs in total, but considering the age and experience of the majority of the players it was an overall solid performance. Fareham finished their innings on 258 so an average total to chase.

The batting got off to a fairly slow start but the first pair ran very well where possible, however Fareham's bowlers kept the scores low by bowling very few extras throughout. We lost 4 wickets in the next 2 pairs but there was definitely progress in how the batsman backed up and called in comparison to Wednesday night's match so that was good to see.

The last pair, Elliott and Tom, knew it was a tall order to get a result from the match as they needed 39 runs in their 4 overs but they got off to a good start scoring 17 off the 1st 2 so it was looking as if it could be a closer match than expected. Unfortunately they lost 2 wickets in the last 2 overs leaving us 20 runs short. They showed good fight and went for the singles where possible and Elliott scored 17 not out to continue his good batting run.

A special mention to Harrison and Jack in their first U11bs match, they worked hard for the team and we are looking forward to seeing their progress in the next few games.

Not our night tonight but still lots of positives to take from the performance.
