Match report The home side chose to bat first on a green looking pitch and lost Wakely in the first over. There followed a partnership of 78, comfortably the largest of the match, between Quincey and Lovett, over 16 overs. Quincey's fifty took 92 minutes and ended with the total on 112 for 4. Wickets fell regularly, leaving the last pair to bring up the 200 and deny the visitors a fifth bowling point.
Both Jack and Matt looked in good form but were at the wicket all too briefly and with the score on 72 for 3 (16 overs), Clem departed too. Gavin, on his debut, played some handsome strokes in his short stay, being replaced by Jake at 101 for 4. Shaun had started brightly but got pinned down by Wakely. However, his partnership with Jake, the highest stand of the innings raised the 150. Neither Tom nor Ben lasted long so Chris walked in with 36 needed from 9.3 overs and immediately grasped the nettle. He dominated the last few overs and hit the winning boundary with five balls to spare.
Despite the tension and closeness of the game, 22 points had been secured.
Ryde's narrow defeat at Hythe means that we are now league leaders, followed closely by Longparish who slaughtered Ventnor at Steephill.
Lymington II's thrashing of Sarisbury brought them level with Longparish.
