Lymington II v Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 24 Jun 2017 at 1.00pm
Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Lost by 2 wickets

Match report With 3 runs needed to win from the last ball of the match, Lymington's Mitchell swung to leg for a boundary that settled the closest possible finish. That he was injured and reinstated after being given run out only intensified the irony in this crucial encounter.
Keiron had won the toss and chosen to bat on what was expected to be a good batting pitch. However, despite a decent start (59 from 15 overs) the ball didn't really come on to the bat and tended to keep low at one end. Lymington suffered two injuries with Mitchell hurting his ribs and Royan being hit in the face after a violent bounce in the outfield.
Phillips' gentle medium pace was difficult to score from and his 28 runs conceded included 10 leg side wides. He had bowled out when Shaun joined Matt in an 81 run partnership from 14 overs. Jake then helped add 42 before Matt was bowled with seven overs left (206 for 4). The Australian, Quigley picked up wickets regularly as the lower order scrambled desperately to maximise the total and the seventh batting point was achieved in the final over.
Jake gave the visitors the perfect start by bowling the stylish Kelly with the seventeenth ball of the inning with no runs on the scoreboard. There followed a partnership of 125 in 29 overs between the impressive Quigley and Roberts. The latter was replaced by the gargantuan Willoughby who immediately increased the scoring rate with some powerful hitting, making a home win look the most likely outcome. 63 were added before Quigley skied Keiron to square leg. The score was on 237 when Willoughby was caught at long on with 20 needed from 20 deliveries. Mitchell was then run out and recalled by the umpires who decided that Chandler had to go.
The Last over arrived with 5 needed and 4 wickets in hand. Macauley was run out off the first ball, followed by a single and a leg bye. Howard-Allen was run out off the 4th ball and Mitchell missed the penultimate ball with three needed.
P & S returned home with 11 points, perhaps an unfair return from such a close match.
