Match report We were missing the injured Ollie K today and with the exception of Captain Harry our batting didn't fire as well as it usually does. Harry was going well, Dan C sensed the need to push on which he did with a 6 but then perished going for another. Harry retired and we had a new pair of Harlan and Freddie. They too found it difficult to score quickly against the excellent Woolvine, but we had posted a decent 119 by the end of our 12 overs, annoyingly 1 run short of maximum batting points with too many dot balls in our innings from which we could have found that extra run.
Our bowling needed to be tight early on and it was, and we were quickly into the wickets with Dan T bowling one of the openers. Nick removed the other opener thanks to a sharp catch by Dan T and we were well in the game. The excellent Woolvine and Paul then set about posting a decent total and after 7 overs Hambledon were dragging themselves back into it. Once Woolvine had retired Nick quickly removed the next man with the help of another Dan T catch, and then Dan removed the No 6 himself with a Harry G catch and it was left to Hambledons best two bats of Woolvine and Paul to try to catch up with a spiralling run rate. The returning Harlan bowled Woolvine, and it was left to Paul to see them up to 101 by the close. A special mention goes to Dan C who kept very tidily in Ollie's absence.
We didnt play well, but we still won, and are unbeaten after three, however we have two very big games up next, so will need to raise our game.
