Match report What a good start. An an excellent measured, then attacking, opening partnership of 91 between Owen and Ian set us up well on a slow but true pitch. Contributions from the skipper, Simon and new boy Chris Rippin saw us reach 198. In view of the rather shaggy outfield we felt this was worth 20 or 30 more runs.
In the field Deano bowled with real pace and venom and proved what a handfull he is at this level, while Doug kept things tight. Within 5 overs each had an openers scalp and the Ian Rogers Show rolled on with him taking both catches.
The bowling changes brough more wickets for big Al and "Dr Crippin" the first taking the ball away, the other bringing it back at a fair lick.
Our other debutant took to 2nd team cricket like a duck to water as his lively fielding display was followed by a compact, attacking spell of leg spin. Congrats to Christian for his first wicket - pitched leg, hit the top of off - Boowwling Warnie!
The 9th wicket was stubborn but DW came back to tidy things up and see us finish 80 plus runs to the good.
