Match report P and S welcomed back Dan C and John B after injury tonight and were able to field a stronger team than in recent games - and we needed it !

Sarisbury won the toss and prevented us from batting first. Harry H and Dan T were unable to make the breakthrough and Sarisbury were moving along nicely at 36 for no wicket off 6 overs, Nick made the breakthrough removing their main bat with a catch from Harry G, who then removed the No 3 himself. Sarisbury weren't scoring many as pace off the ball was making it hard to score, but they had wickets in hand. Dan C removed the opener who had battled hard for 25 with a catch from Henry. John B and Henry then took a late flurry of wickets, 3 for John and 2 for Henry, and a late run out saw us take all 10 wickets off the last ball of the innings.
112 to win was needed on a night when it was proving hard to score with pace off the ball. Harlan was quickly off the mark with a few boundaries, but we then lost Ollie, Harry H and Harry G in quick time. Harlan was caught in two minds wether to attack or defend and chose wrong. Dan Cox was adjuged out caught behind off the very next ball and we were staring down the barrel at 34 for 5. Joe Martin announced his arrival with a 6, and he and Nick set about rebuilding the innings before Nick was run out. John had asked to bat 11 to rest his sore knee but his team needed him, so he joined Joe and they put on a fantastic partnership which edged us closer and closer, and Sarisbury had bowled out their main bowlers. We still needed 23 off 3 overs. Joe was run out and the chase became 13 off 2, and then 6 off 1 thanks to a cracking 4 off the last ball of the 19th over from dan T. John saw us home with consecutive boundaries off the first two balls of the last over.

Once again (again) our strength in depth saw us home, with the middle order seeing us home with the bat. In the field wickets, catches and run outs were contributed by many. John B had a special day with bat and ball especially when he was a reluctant batter tonight.
