Match report This match began in brilliant sunshine and ended in gloom in more ways than one. Having been inserted, Ventnor had struggled to 87 for 5 from 30 overs at which point Charlie Calloway entered the proceedings. He hit four huge sixes and with help from Whyte and Willis ensured a competitive total for the home side. He had been in the first team the week before and dominated this game to an outstanding degree. His opening spell of 8 overs rendered 5-13 and wrecked the P & S reply which stood at 75-5 when he took his sweater. At this point, off-spinner Sammons took the first of his 3 wickets and Matt W joined Matt S in a partnership of 68 in 18 overs to make the home side nervous, but although Chris and Jono supported Matt S for 43 minutes, the end came when Calloway returned to bowl a hobbling Jono.
Matt Smith had returned to form with a 67 ball fifty when his team really needed it and didn't deserve to be on the losing side.
