Being put in we started well with Ollie and Harlan running confidently. Ollie took 18 off the 4th over before Harlan too found the rope only to fall lbw a few balls later. Daniel played straight and picked up a good boundary but a mix up with Will D saw Will unfortunately run out. This brought Henry to the crease who also ran well. Both perished soon after with Henry falling to a good catch and Daniel who's patience ran out and saw him Lbw playing across the line. A quick and aggressive partnership developed between Will P and young Freddie with both finding the rope a couple of times. Having toughed it out against their champion bowler Freddie holed out at mid off at the other end. While Will continued to pick up regular runs their quick man bowled straight to wipe out the tail as we lost the last 4 wickets quickly with the last one going on the last ball.
With the ball in hand Harlan started well but their openers weathered the storm and built well as we generally bowled too short. Freddie bowled good lines but their men backed their eyes and struck boldly. The introduction of Will gave us a modicum of control but their clean striking and aggressive running took the game away. Ultimately it was their running that got us our two wickets. Daniel got a sprawling hand to a decent shot and Will D hurried the ball in for an excellent direct hit. Daniel was again in the game as he flicked the ball in to the gloves to get our second runout.
In the end they ran out deserved winners with more than 4 overs to spare. We've some work to do folks, let's hope the rain stays off to let us train ;-/
