Match report Batting first our innings began carefully as Daniel C and Ollie built steadily then accelerated as Ollie hurried to retirement. Debutant Ben S joined Dan and consolidated, building a platform. The unfortunate Dan perished one short of retiring, bringing the second of our new boys, Ben H to the crease but he was cleaned up by their returning opener. Our push for runs had stalled somewhat with overs 17, 18 and 19 brining only a total of 2 runs. However with Harlan facing the last few balls he dispatched two well struck 4s to get us the next batting point before falling to the last ball of the innings looking for a 3rd. While we had batted well, more urgency in our shot making and running with so many wickets in hand might have given our bowlers more to play with.
As it transpired we had enough runs.
Henry got us going in his first over with a C&B accounting for their strong opener. We took a stranglehold on things when Freddie got his pacey inswing working picking up 3 wickets plus a composed run out. Our 3rd debutant Josh got into the act inducing a thick edge that was well held by Ben S. Ben was again in the game when his quick return was collected by Ollie to effect our second run out. Josh showed off a great pair of hands taking an overhead catch off the deserving Harry. Harry also had success after beating the edge and seeing Ollie bring the bails down. We closed things out when Daniel T rocketed in a direct hit for our last run out.
