Match report This ws a strange match; neither side managed a batting point. Although the pitch was helpful to the bowlers, it was not a minefield. Bashley chose to bat first and made an excellent start with 45 from the opening 10 overs. Then followed a collapse with Fletch and Chris dismissing half their team for just 8 runs. Thereafter, the batting was dogged with Morris sustaining the innings until he was ninth out at 116. Matt ended the match on a hat-trick but all the bowlers had made a genuine contribution.
The early end to the innings meant that P & S would have to bat for 9 overs before tea and during this spell they reached 41 for 1 with Mike looking in good form. After tea, with the score at 58 for 1 came the first two of 4 lbw decisions, all made by the same umpire. This took the total to 24 in 9 league matches this season, a staggering 32% of our dismissals. The rest of the innings was marked by raucous appealing by the younger members of the home team and more dogged batting. Matt S looked more fluent than at any previous time this season, but was caught in the covers with 20 still needed. Chris and Keiron put on 12 in 6 overs before the fourth lbw ended the match.
