Match report More rain and another win, this time with a considerably more inexperienced side so very pleasing.
Winning the toss skipper Harry W showed us the way, cracking the first ball for 4 and barely breaking stride thereafter, despite the loss of Ollie and Dan who both ran well but perished early. Harry H started carefully but built well and was disappointed to be bowled sweeping. Our third Harry (G) limped his way to a destructive 30 on the way playing shot of the day nailing a shoulder high full toss over midwicket for a one bounce 4. Soon after Harlan & Moni were run out with tight ones (Harlan perhaps regretted his call and Moni certainly regretted not running his bat in, although his first ball 4 provided some consolation!). With overs running out Henry and Kyle took their A team bows, both looking positive and Henry particularly hitting well to set a total of 118.
In the field, as with the bat, things couldn't have started better. HH took a tremendous c&b first ball and could have had a second scalp but a tough skyer was grassed. He was in the action in the next over too with a direct hit run out. A good period for the batters came to an end with an acurate Moni bowling the number 3 and Russell again showing his continued improvement finding a top edge keeper for the day HG took with ease. The introduction of HW to the bowling crease effectively confirmed the result as he took two quick wickets and managed a run out too.
With us on top Robbie took the ball in his first action for the U13As and after a nervous first over picked up a bowled in a far better second. Daniel T, as is becoming his regular way, sent down two tight sets. Kyle had a go too and will undoubtedly have better days, although on another day might have collected a stumping or two. Henry came up against their most aggressive bat but kept his nerve well. Just before HW finished things off in the final over Ollie had a twirl and was pleased to pick up a first ball wicket with the help of HW's scrambling grab. All in all a good day all round (particualy for the skip who gets todays MVP).
