Match report The few weeks off from Training and Match Practice certainly showed in this lacklustre peformance (a discription provided by a wise spectator!).
Bowling first we couldn't make a break through despite a very close run out call which might have set us on our way. Pick of the bowlers were Dan C, Harry and Will. An amazed Dan T had to watch a 6 hit off his bowling - you'll have much worse balls than that take wickets! With some energy and remembering very simple things like walking in with the bowler and backing up we could have trimed 20 runs off the score. Giving them 35 extra was far too much to give a good team like Hambledon.
In reply we had a solid platform built but needless run outs for 3 of the top 4 meant we were never in the hunt. Later in the inning the opposite was obvious as we stopped running altogether! The real difference came in the bowling and fielding. Hambledon bowled only 4 wides to our 30.
Hopefully that one will have blown the cobwebs away and we'll be back to our competitive best next time out.
