U16s Indoor Round Up

19 Mar 2018

Ending with a comfortable win saw our U16s finished in the top half of the table having won 5 of 9 matches. While that is a fair representation of where our performances merited, I feel with a bit more belief in our undoubted ability we could have been at least a top three side.

Opening the batting Freddie and Tristan C both tallied 150+ runs and our next man Alex (130+) will be better next time having now got more of a measure of the requirements of indoor batting. unfortunately we didn't see as much of Tristan N and Muhammad as we might have liked as both put in decent performances. Joel was asked to open both batting and bowling for us at various times and never let us down.  Likewise, with limited opportunity, Josh and Lenny got stuck in themselves at different points.

In the field we were perhaps not as penetrative as we have been in the past. Our leading wicket taker was Alex with 3 and his day job is as a wicket keeper! Lenny, Josh and Tristan N all picked up a brace from only a few overs each. Surprisingly, Freddie and Muhammad only grabbed a wicket each. Also with one apiece were Tom and Umar, who it might be argued looked better bowlers at this age group than their own. It's something to think on chaps but bodes will for seasons to come.

After our mass "retirement" last year we only see Josh and Muhammad move beyond the age group this time. So with a bit more belief and a buzz we should be well placed for a tilt at the title next time round.
