U13s indoor season round up

19 Mar 2018

Our Under 13's ended their indoor campaign yesterday with a nail biting win that was a great example of how much the side has progressed (albeit with changed personnel) in a year.

A record of Played 9 Won 6 took us to 4th place on the log. We were beaten by the 3 good sides that finished higher but can certainly claim to be Best of the Rest.

With the bat, Harrison E, Jack and Tom all finished with in excess of 100 runs and, had he played more, Umar would certainly have done the same. Next season we will be looking for a couple if not all of them to double that tally. We also saw batting retirements from Ryan and Fin, confirm we can look forward to more run scoring from them. In addition to his competitive take on batting, Fin's wicket keeping was always sharp. When called upon Alfie's urgency added energy to our batting while Elliott added stoic resistance. Harrison M and Dan didn't get too much of a chance to show what they could do but will come again for sure.

The wicket taking was led by Jack (6) followed by Harrison E (4, at our best economy rate). Ryan's 3 wickets were often the key ones and Harrison M showed plenty of promise in picking up 3 scalps in only 2 matches (& 4 overs). Both Tom (2) and Umar (1) bowled quickly and can look forward to better returns when control becomes more of a focus.

Where we can improve is in adding urgency to both our running and fielding - we managed only 5 catches this year and fewer run outs - most of which came latterly. What we need most however is to be a bit more vocal in our support of each other, calling for runs etc. This in its self will drive energy levels and will be sure to make us a force next term.
